An intermediate handpan is aimed at the player who feels the limitations of their first instrument: a desire for longer phrasing, richer chords, and more present bass. This selection includes the Lunveil models tailored for this stage.
Moving from 9 to 10 or 12 notes broadens the melodic range: the additional high notes (C5, D5, E5 in the D Kurd scale) allow for fuller melodies and richer accompaniments without changing the foundations already acquired. You feel the limits of a 9-note instrument when the same patterns loop endlessly: this is the signal that an intermediate handpan will bring a real renewal to your playing.
Stay within the scale you know—the D Kurd layout is identical from one model to another—and choose the tuning, 440 Hz or 432 Hz, depending on your needs. At this level, touch sensitivity and tuning stability make the difference between two instruments.
Explore the models below and compare their note layouts before choosing your next handpan.
