With 9 notes, each struck area has its place and the ear quickly memorizes the intervals. The D Kurd (D minor) scale does the rest: all combinations sound harmonious, so you can play short melodic loops from the very first week, without any music theory. This is why a beginner handpan should be chosen first for its scale, rather than its size or finish.
