Handpan

The handpan is a melodic steel percussion instrument, played with the hands, whose array of tuned notes produces an enveloping and precise sound. This collection brings together all Lunveil handpans, selected from partner manufacturers and checked note by note before shipment.

Choosing your handpan: scale, notes, tuning

All our models are tuned in the D Kurd scale (D minor), the most widely played scale in the world: its intervals sound harmonious in all combinations, making it the ideal starting point. Choosing a handpan then comes down to the number of notes — 9, 10, or 12 notes depending on the variant — and the tuning: 440 Hz for playing with other instruments, or 432 Hz for a tone perceived as softer.

A handpan for every level

To guide you, the collection is organized into three levels: beginner handpan to start with simple reference points, intermediate handpan when the melodic range expands, and advanced handpan for instruments with the most refined finish. Each product page details the exact note layout, the material — stainless steel — and the dimensions: this is the mark of a truly tuned instrument.
